This home for 142 SEN children is situated in the centre of a large town. The children are cheerful and obviously have a good relationship with the staff. They are particularly keen to obtain kids’ musical instruments for music therapy. The children produce the most amazing traditional Ukrainian embroidery. They have also requested woodworking tools. Some help is received from an American Group. I have spotted asbestos used for toilet cubicles and will make sure it is replaced as soon as possible.

I was hugely impressed by the care given to the 132 children, aged 1 - 4 yrs, 20 of whom are severely handicapped while all have some problems.
The 40 staff their best to keep the place clean and cheerful for their children but are hampered by the condition of the buildings. Especially in the unit for the youngest children where the windows need replacing and the break-up of their vinyl flooring is a real hazard to the toddlers. Fortunately we have recently received some pediatric furniture that we will get to them as soon as possible.
